Is Stake safe?

The licence
Stake.com is operated under a Curaçao gaming licence. That is a real licence with real conditions, and it is not the same as a licence from a national regulator in your own country. Where Stake is available
Stake blocks players from a list of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and several others, and serves some regions through separate locally licensed sites. Using a VPN to get around a block is a terms breach and the most common reason a withdrawal is refused. If the site loads and lets you register from your real location, you are in a served region.

The company behind it
Stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V., a Curaçao company, and was founded in 2017 by Australians Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. The same founders built Easygo, the studio behind the Originals, and Kick, the streaming platform where Stake’s sponsored streamers broadcast. Stake sponsors the UFC, Everton FC and the Kick Sauber Formula 1 team. It is, by any measure, one of the largest online casinos in the world, which is relevant to the safety question in one specific way: it has more to lose from not paying than any individual player has to win.

Account security

What complaints are actually about
- Withdrawals refused after VPN use from a blocked country. The terms say it, the verification finds it.
- Duplicate accounts, often a second account to claim a second bonus. Both get closed.
- Bonus voided for max-bet breaches or hedging patterns. Read the terms.
- Verification delays at the first withdrawal, almost always from bad document photos.

What we do not see: documented cases of a verified, single account in a served country being refused a legitimate withdrawal.
Country list at time of writing
Stake.com blocks, among others: the United States (served separately by Stake.us, a sweepstakes product), the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Czechia, Slovakia, Ontario in Canada, Curaçao itself and a list of sanctioned jurisdictions. Some of these are served by separate locally licensed Stake sites. Finland and the Nordics
Finland is served, and Stake runs a Finnish-language site. Finland is moving from a state monopoly to a licensing system, with licensed operators expected from 2027; until an operator holds a Finnish licence it is not supervised by Finnish authorities, and Finnish self-exclusion tools do not cover it. Norway is served but Norwegian banks may block gambling payments, which is one reason crypto rails are common there. Sweden and Denmark are blocked because Stake does not hold their local licences.
